The Carolinas And The Shag
I am from North Carolina and I went to college in South Carolina. What I didn’t realize when I lived in North Carolina was that South Carolina has a state dance. I am told that of all fifty states South Carolina is the only state that has it’s own state dance. What is this dance you say? It’s the Shag! And what fun dance costumes. Just like Alabama sang, dancing, shagging on the boulevard! The shag is a fun dance that goes with beach music. I learned how to shag in a class at the YMCA. It was a fun way to meet people, get a little exercise and have fun!
